World on Fire (2019)

Duration: 6 minutes

This string quartet is the first entry of a multi-year cycle for string quartet working through some of the difficult emotions that arise for me around the climate crisis. This first movement addresses frustration for the lack of action, cynicism at devolving political discourse, and unease for the fate that awaits continued inaction. The piece aspires toward a call for action, especially for those with the power and resources to address the situation, but I hope that I may also serve as a space to simply acknowledge and move through our experiences living through the climate crisis today.

The second movement is how the cinder bears the seed (2024).
